For now, there is only a past, the future is up to the members -
Many years ago, a vast terrain with little to offer engulfed a large portion of the country. Little life inhabited this place for long, and mankind overlooked it as a wasteland, considerably useless. As time progressed, mother-nature began to nurture the stretch of barren scape. A large bowl began to form, huge cliffs towering around the lip, a valley formed before the world's eyes.
In this valley, life began to find place here as things started to grow. A Vast meadow consumed most of the once-dead ground and a dense forest formed around the Eastern border. Out of nowhere it seemed, wild horses found their way into the valley, and made it their home. As weather scarred the valley, it began to take a slight lean that drained the bowl into a crevice that was also due to the harshness of passing storms. As the crevice deepened and continued to be molded by nature, a giant sink began to serve as the bottom. From this point and beyond, the surface of that sink was never to be seen again as water quickly found its place there after every rain storm. Not only did it serve as a drain and water-source to the valley, but a river soon carved its way along the cliff-tops. When it finally reached its destination, the river thrust itself off the edge of the cliff, merging with the lake below, stirring the water and continuously adding more freshness and purity to it.
The horses gratefully took this as a gift from the gods and replenished their thirst from the fresh, clean water.
Alas, life is always subject to change, and as man soon became aware of the beautiful valley, they of course had to build a settlement nearby. As there was no obvious way in, they had to stay put for a while, sending out scouts to look for an entrance to the serene valley. One man found something that looked promising: a forest that seemed to cut its way through the ragged cliff. If only they could get through the forest, they would surely find themselves inside the heavenly place. It sounded so easy, but the forest looked dense and very large - who knows what could lurk amongst the shadows?
In the meantime, they built a little town that revolved around a small Tea-tree lake. As the small settlement grew, so did the lake and so it was decided to call the little town "Tea-tree Lake".
Losing interest and courage as scout after scout ceased to return from the dark woods, they slowly left, leaving the placid valley un-touched.
Unfortunately it was not long before humanity found its way back to Tea-tree Lake once more, this time with big machines to force their way through the thick forest. Considering the nameless beasts that did lurk in the depths of the wood, they were no match for the roaring, man-made machines that savaged its way through. When at last they reached the other side, a wide, brutal, scarring trench was left in its trail.
The horses that resided there were instantly alarmed and began to panic as the roaring of their monstrous engines and scent of the sickly smoke got nearer and nearer to where the horses grazed. Just as the huge monsters came in sight, there was a combination of distressed horse neighs and yelling people. The people and their machines were the first to back down, after a time disappearing completely.
The silence lasted little over a day before they returned. This time, without the roaring machines but horses instead. The herd was confused: should they greet the horses? What was sitting upon them, seemingly controlling them? And what is this new, unfamiliar scent?
After a quick analysis of the situation, they decided to flee from the approachers, their instincts warning them that they were dangerous and a threat to their lives.
Hard as they tried, fast as they ran, the wild horses were no match for the offenders and eventually they were caught up to and herded back around, toward the forest that marked their exit. Before they could actually reach the brutally beaten forest, the direction changed once more, this time heading toward a quickly approaching containment yard. Out of all the horses, only twelve managed to escape the entrance, and even after that only seven were actually able to escape the entire disaster.
The sound of distressed horses echoed throughout the entire valley, sending the escapees as far from the site as possible, yet unable to escape the cage-like valley.
Those that remained reproduced and for a time, their population was reaching satisfactory numbers, before a second invasion took place. This time horses were singularly picked out and taken away, nothing quite as dramatic as the last event.
It appeared the humans had made some kind of pact with the horses that allowed the horses to manage their numbers at a steady pace as every month, the humans would come and rope down a few horses before retreating again, leaving the horses to reproduce and make up for the frequent losses.
Back in Tea-tree Lake, horses were domesticated and trained as eventing horses and means of transportation. The life between the two seemed at a truce for almost a year as the people had enough horses to start their own generation of domestic horses. When they did invade the valley, it was often far less frequent and only leaving with one or two captured horses. This life went on for generations, until of course the peaceful path veered off in a different direction when a raging fire consumed a devastating portion of the town, as well as its residents and horses.
With only a tiny population now, and more horses than were needed, the wild herd saw no more of the humans...
Five years later, the year 2000 arrives and a new interests in the little, wrecked town is born. Slowly people begin to rebuild Tea-tree Lake and re-inhabit the place, finding work as farmers and salesmen. once the town was re-built and things started to run more smoothly, more people started to arrive - These people are you!
