The whole drive back to town was agonizingly slow as Kayla had to ensure that the mare could keep pace without wearing herself out. She was still utterly confused and shell-shocked about the horses' immaculate willingness, the whole way it never did so much as glance in another direction, even as it's homeland quickly faded away beneath it's very feet and new, unfamiliar terrain replaced it. Perhaps she was ill? The thought had crossed Kayla's mind several times, but eventually she just decided that it must have grown up around humans, and then managed to escape, which would easily explain its unusual behavior.
Kayla half expected the mare to jump for joy when she spotted the big round yards. Though that wasn't quite the mare's reaction, she did seem to "welcome" it, of sorts, as she had with everything else. Kayla sighed; though she would never have admitted it aloud, she was a little disappointed that she obviously wasn't going to experience the adrenaline of working with one of those high-spirited horse, fight-for-freedom horses her father has spent his life training. However the obvious docility of the mare would definitely save a lot of time and energy, which was always a plus. Kayla was just grateful she has stumbled across horses still living in the valley in the first place, which lead her to think of that poor stallion back there. Kayla wondered if maybe him and this mare were the only horses there, and she had just taken away his only company. This thought saddened her, but she couldn't seem to get her head around the fact that there would only have been two horses living in the entire valley. 'No, there must be more some where!' she thought, shrugging off the guilt.
Kayla petted the mare's glistening, gold nape, running her fingers through her perfect, silken mane. What a loss to whoever owned her before-hand, she obviously had impeccable lines. She traced the muscles of the mare's powerful neck, all the way up to her cheek bone were she gave it a gentle rub. "Before we do anything else, I think you need a name..." Kayla pondered the matter for a while as she went back admiring the contours of her new companions' slender frame. Many options fluttered around her mind, but were quickly ignored and whisked right back out again as she rejected them simultaneously. Kayla continued to "Umm" and "Uhh" over it for a good half hour as she tended to the horses' needs, fetching a pale of cool water and a nice clean halter which she used to tether the mare up with.
Eventually she sighed, "This is not easy, you know. Can't you just tell me a name? Give me a hint? I haven't got a clue here!" Then she laughed, realizing that to anyone else she would have sounded completely out of her mind.

Twix turned her head towards the twilight, she reared and went down; giving a hint that her name was twilight.

The young woman's brow furrowed, still deep in thought. She had brought a stool out from the tack shed and was now propped up on it, combing her fingers through the mare's glistening, gold mane. She still couldn't believe her luck in stumbling upon this beautiful, pristine beast. No ordinary name would suit her, it had to be something that complimented her extravagant looks. Of course the horse couldn't just blurt out a name she wanted for herself, so it was completely up to Kayla to think of one for herself.
"Uh oh.." she muttered as she was sure what had been stifled during the whole capturing process was now surfacing. The mare was finally fighting back! Or, was she? She got got an odd glint in her deep, brown eyes, like she was desperate for something; attention? With relative ease, she was suddenly up on her hind legs, throwing her energy in the direction of the horizon. It was odd, because she didn't look like she was being aggressive. Her ears weren't even slightly flattened, there was no ivory showing from her eyes - nothing. She looked completely calm, except for that weird look in her eyes. "Gosh, you are a confusing horse."
As the mare settled, Kayla actually did look at the horizon. It was getting dark, but an orangey-yellow glow still settled along the ongoing straight line. "Twilight" she whispered. It was her favorite time of the day, but also for some reason the saddest. Another day had come to an end, played its part and was now lost in the huge void of time. She sighed, remarking at how much the colour of the faint glow reminded her of the mare's stunning pelt. Something was itching at the back of her mind, some sort of answer but she couldn't quite pin-point it...

Twix nickered softly. She lowered her forelegs to the ground. The haflinger stood happily, her warm hide was as golden as the sunset was.

Rolling the word around in her head, that irritating itch that was gnawing away at the back of her mind suddenly broke free, exploding the front of her brain. She looked at the mare, studied her features. Kayla smiled as she realized that she had finally come up with a name that suited the mare perfectly, as though the mare's had come up and whispered it in her ear. "Twilight, she went back to combing her fingers through the mare's silk-like tress, humming something her mother used to sing to her when she was younger.
She shot a little side-glance at a round yard to her left. Sitting on the railing, half-hidden in the shadows of the darkening sky, sat a stock saddle. She squinted for a moment in thought, flickering between the saddle and the mare and then swiftly leapt to her feet. "You accept the halter, what would you say to a saddle, Twilight?" She eyed the mare for a moment, half expecting it to start talking to her, and then hesitantly left the mare tied up as she jogged over to control shed. Once inside, she located the main power switch a flicked it on, greeting with the sound of about ten thumps and clicks and then all was silent.
When she came out of the shed, it looked like day. Ten big spot-lights had illuminated, lighting the whole area. She wasn't sure how Twilight would react to the sudden change of daytime, but considering all the other things the mare was absolutely fine with, she probably wouldn't even flinch.

Twilight was still standing where Kayla had left, which seemed to put a smile on her face. She gave the mare a quick pet before untying the lead rope and walking the golden beauty to a nearby, brightly lit round yard. She eyed the saddle that seemed to be burning into her vision and decided that the mare, despite her willingness toward everything else, was probably not quite ready for the saddle just yet. Instead she dis-connected the current short-rope that was attached to the mare's halter and re-attached a long lunging line. A small piece of white poly-pipe was nailed to one of the rails; inside was a few selections of lunging whips. Kayla grabbed a long red one, holding her breath and then letting it a out in a big 'whoosh'. Horses so recently plucked from the wild should not be progressing so fast, even if it was an escapee from some sort of ranch, which Kayla suspected.
Wow! Super, super short, museless post! Yuck.

Twix started at a slow jog, and advanced to a heavy trot; Her golden mane fleew in the air as she trotted on.

At first the mare was a little asleep and slow to respond to Kayla's aids, but it wasn't long before she was up and going, spinning around in the other direction with just the slightest hint. It was becoming obvious that this horse was either some kind of... Angel or something, or somebody had already began to train her before she escaped. She allowed Twilight to just stay pace at a nice, even trot, but then flicked the whip, encouraging a canter. She had never been through her paces, and wondered what kind of gait she had.
She smiled as she remembered how she used hang her elbows over the rail and watch her father lounge the yearling's, he was really good with horses, and they all seemed to want to impress, stretching their limits in order to receive just a single word of praise by their trainer. Kayla doubted she would ever be as good as her father, but he had told her that he thought she had a lot of natural ability. After trying to lounge some of the other young horses, and failing miserably, she refused to believe him, and didn't watch her father for a good month before deciding how much it made her happy.

The mare's fluent, rythmatic gait was captivating, almost like dance. Her golden tassels flowed out behind her like a banner of pride. Kayla was fixated completely on Twilight, her green mare. If the Stabled had caught alight, it have taken her a ridiculously long time to realize it, she was that focused. She clicked her tongue, continuously urging the mare on. As she started to get dizzy, she flicked the long whip in front of the cantering creature, and was obeyed immediately.
When she was satisfied with that exercise, she dropped the lounging whip and asked the mare for a trot, using only her vocals aids. This was something that was usually only achievable after quite a few lounges, but the magnificent horse just seemed so cocky and confident, Kayla just couldn't resist having a go.

Devin walked down the bard seeing no horses it almost shocked him. A big ranch like this couldn't be horseless. He glanced around and his eyes stopped at a girl in the round pen lounging a beautiful mare. She floated around and around She moved with ease.
He watched them work staying silent he didn't want to disturb them. He watched the girl drop the whip then turned his attention toward the mare. 'She must be a trained pro' he thought 'it takes hours of training for a horse to be that good' refering to the horse. He could tell the girl was a natural at what she was doing but she seemed hesitant.
He loved the look of horses working. They were so graceful. It made him miss home but quickly he push those thoughts out of his head. He leaned up against the barn door. and continued to watch in silence.

[[Wait, so she doesn't even flinch? Just does it perfectly? Isn't that just the tiniest bit un-realistic? I mean, we can't just get her all perfect in one night...]]

[[Hahahahaha, thank you ]]
Coming from Twilights perfect streak, her little freak out took Kayla by surprise. Though when out in the valley, and the noose was resting behind her soft ears, Twilight had no problems; Kayla had already made the mistake of categorizing the mare as the perfect horse, a mistake her father would un-undoubtedly have never made. Bucking wasn't so serious, so it wasn't like Kayla had to start cowering for her life, it just woke her up from her daydream. She knew it was too early to jump to such an advanced stage, but she couldn't resist.
Kayla let the mare tire herself a little before slowly reeling the line in; she couldn't scold the mare, for it had been a fault of her own. All the while she was whispering apologies to Twilight, and praying for her father to aid her. She still had so much to learn when her father passed away, it was like an un-finished painting: Though it was pretty to look at and soft to the eye, for those who knew how to look, the missing essentials were evident.
The young girl took off the lead-rope attached to Twilight's halter and just had time to un-latch the gate before catching something out of place in the corner of her eye. Her gaze shifted warily to her left, and flew open just a little wider when she saw a figure leaning against the stalls (sorry if that's not where he is, that's just kind of where I imagined him to be...). At first she couldn't form words to accuse the boy of spying on her, but then as she thought of the idiocy he must have witnessed, her courage came spiraling back in a hurry. She stepped out of the gate, doing it up behind her, and then strode over to the water troff, acting as though she was just going to ignore him.
She splashed the cold water onto her face, using her hands to slick the excess water into her hair which she then reeled around her finger and left to rest on her shoulder in a thick ringlet. She rested her hands on the edge of the troff and looked down at them, watching her knuckles turn white in anger. He must have thought she was insane to rush her green mare into that, surely anybody else would have known better. "You always spy on people like this?" She said, spinning around to look at the dark silhouette front on. Her tone was venomous, but defensive.

Twix shook her head, sweat dripped from her strong neck. The stall was her size, but she wasn't exactly stall-trained. Her strong forelegs lifted up into thin air. She spread her hind legs to support her well-armed body. The mare was a magnificent site to behold; but she was regal, a danger to anyone crossing the stall windows.
The gentle mare was angry for being in a stall; she was used to bigger stalls-and a pasture, ah a pasture: the green-ness and acres to gallop on.
Her nose flared and she went in the air, forelegs kicking; kicking hard, silver strands of tail, caught in the stall bars.
She came down to all fours, the whites of her eyes showing and she threatened another rear, or buck; probably destroying the stall. Twix neighed, as loud as she could.

Devin watched the excitement in the arena and watched the girl bring her out. He continued watching as she put her in her stall and rinsed her face off. When she accused him of spying he listened and kept his cool still leaning on the wall. "Nope i'm......." He stoped short and hurried into the barn he stoped at the front of twilights door. "Easy girl its ok we'll get you out don't worry." He grabbed the the halter and lead-rope off the hook and unlatched the door sliding in the stall. He quickly slipped it on not letting the mare think about what was happening. He opened the door and walked her out, he moved so fast it was hard to keep up with what he was thinking. He was worried that the mare was going to hurt herself he walked her up and down the barn stopping when he saw the girl of which he still didn't know the name. {Don't worry i prefer the long post}
